CETL supports faculty new to ºÚÁÏÍø through programs specifically designed for new faculty success.  These programs and resources complement programs that colleges and other units offer.

2026 New Faculty Orientation

Message to new faculty members:Ìý
We are excited that you will be joining the ºÚÁÏÍø community! TheÌýOffice of the Provost, Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL), and Human Resources invite you to participate in New Faculty Orientation onÌýAugust 5-7, 2026. During this three-day program, you will learn about ºÚÁÏÍø, meet members of the ºÚÁÏÍø community, and initiate your path toward success in your new faculty role at ºÚÁÏÍø.

Faculty who will be joining ºÚÁÏÍø in August or have joined during fall 2025 (after the 2025 Orientation), spring 2026, or summer 2026 will receive email communications from CETL with details. This website will be updated throughout the summer.

Overview of the NFO Schedule (times to be confirmed):

  • Wednesday, August 5 at 9-11:45 am | LA 1004
    Human Resources Orientation for new employees
    This session is for new employees who have not attended an HR orientation.
  • Wednesday, August 5 at 12-4 pm
    New Faculty Orientation Welcome | Off campus
    Lunch and a visit to Historic New Harmony; transportation will be provided. Hosted by the Provost's Office and Historic New Harmony.
  • Thursday, August 6 at 8:30 am-3:15 pm and Friday, August 7 at 8:30 am-2:30 pm
    New Faculty Orientation | LA 1004
    New/recent part-time Lecturers are invited to attend the teaching-focused sessions on August 7.

Information from the 2025 Orientation is provided for reference. Details for the 2026 NFO will be available in mid-July.

  • Business/office casual, in recognition of the potential for summer weather (hot outdoors and potentially cold indoors).
    • We'll have a mix of indoor and outdoor sessions on Wednesday and be indoors throughout Thursday and Friday.
  • Comfortable walking shoes on Wednesday afternoon in Historic New Harmony
  • Professional attire for your headshot photo

Campus map 

  • Parking information:  Parking is free, and permits are not needed.
  • Parking Lot N is adjacent to the Liberal Arts Center (LA) and University Center West (UC). Alternatively, Lot J is adjacent to the Business and Engineering Center (BE) and connected to the LA Center by sidewalk. Another option is Lot I, which is down the hill from the LA Center.
  • For the Photography Studio, Lot D is nearest to the Recreation Center.
  • Accessible spaces are available next to the University Center West, Business and Engineering Center (BE), Rice Library, and the Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center.

  • New Faculty Academy: bi-weekly meetings during the Fall and Spring semesters. The New Faculty Academy (NFA) is a year-long, cohort program designed specifically for first-year faculty members to launch their academic careers at ºÚÁÏÍø.
